Buy your Studio Pass the moment your date is fixed — there are no gate sales, and since 1 September 2026 there is no reason to wait. USJ's ticket booths closed permanently on 6 May 2025. Tickets are sold online, through Lawson Ticket (including Loppi terminals in Lawson stores), through JTB and contracted agencies, and to guests at partner hotels — released two months ahead. A 1-Day adult pass runs ¥8,400–11,900 ($53–75) depending on the date; children 4–11 pay from ¥5,500. Since 1 September 2026 admission prices re-adjust daily with demand even after going on sale, and the price at purchase is final. Early buyers lock the floor; late buyers fund it.

Under-4s free. Seniors (65+) have their own 1-Day price, from ¥7,600. A 12-year-old still in elementary school can buy child tickets until 31 March. How dynamic pricing actually works
The 1 September changeUSJ has had date-banded 'variable' pricing for years. What arrived on 1 September 2026 is different in kind, not degree.
The old system set a handful of price tiers when tickets went on sale and left them alone. The new system — applying to park entry since 1 September 2026, with those tickets on sale since 1 July — re-adjusts prices daily with demand even after tickets are already selling. A Saturday that's filling fast gets more expensive on Tuesday. The price you see today is literally today's price. It covers admission (Studio Passes, not Annual Passes); Express Pass pricing was not part of the change.
Two rules fall out of that. The price at purchase is final — buying early locks your number, and nothing you booked gets repriced later. And ranges beat point figures — any article quoting one exact USJ price for your date is describing the past. That includes this one: we publish the band (¥8,400–11,900 for a 1-Day adult) and tell you to confirm the day's figure at checkout.
The release rhythm: tickets go on sale two months before the visit date, Express Passes on the same schedule. Peak dates — Golden Week, mid-July–August, Halloween weekends, New Year — are the ones where release-day buying genuinely matters. USJ closed its ticket booths permanently on 6 May 2025 — there are no gate sales, so buy before you arrive: online, at Lawson (Loppi), through JTB and other contracted agencies, or at a partner hotel as a guest. Twilight Pass math — about 30% off for a half day
The evening loopholeThe Twilight Pass admits you from 15:00, from ¥5,900 ($37) against from ¥8,400 for the full day — about ¥2,500, or 30%, off at the floor prices. On a late-closing day that's six hours or more, queues thin noticeably after 17:00, and the two best atmospheric moments of the day — the candle-lit Potter castle after dark and the neon streets at closing — are both evening events. For a non-theme-park adult tagging along, or a second taste after a full day earlier in the trip, it's the right product.
The honest caveat: Twilight rarely gets you into Super Nintendo World. The free timed-entry tickets are first come, first served from the moment the park opens, and on busy dates trip reports say they're gone long before 15:00. If Nintendo is the point, buy the full day and get your timed ticket early, or pay for an area-guarantee Express. The 1.5-Day pass (from ¥13,600) solves this neatly: Twilight-style entry on day one for Potter at night, then a full day two with a rope-drop start for Nintendo.

How much is the USJ Twilight Pass?
From ¥5,900 adult ($37) and from ¥3,900 child, entry from 15:00 — about 30% off the 1-Day at the floor prices, and six hours or more on a late-closing day. Good for Potter at night and thinning evening queues, bad for Super Nintendo World, whose free timed tickets are first come, first served from opening.
Is the USJ 2-day pass worth it?
From ¥16,000 it prices two days at about 1.9× one at the floor — fair if Nintendo and Potter both matter and you hate rope-drop starts. The sharper buy for most is the 1.5-Day from ¥13,600: arrive 15:00 day one for evening Potter, spend the full day two on Nintendo with a proper rope-drop.
Do children need a USJ ticket?
Ages 4–11 pay child rates: from ¥5,500 for a 1-Day, from ¥3,900 Twilight. Under-4s enter free. Ages 12 and up pay adult prices, except that a 12-year-old still in elementary school can buy child tickets until 31 March (USJ's school-year rule). For visits from 13 November to 30 December 2026, USJ's Holiday Kids Free Pass lets one child aged 4–11 in free with each paying adult — check the conditions on USJ's ticket page. The autumn ¥1,000-off student pass covered visits from 10 to 30 September 2026 only and has ended.
Can I refund or change a USJ ticket?
You can usually change the date: USJ allows date changes on unused tickets that meet its conditions. Cancellations and refunds aren't offered unless there are legal grounds, but USJ sells its own Ticket Cancellation Insurance on some tickets — worth adding at checkout if your dates are shaky. Resellers set their own terms, so read them before paying.
