The castle stares down the main boulevard from the station — a flat 15-minute walk or 5-minute bus. Buy the castle + Kokoen combo at the gate and be inside the Hishi Gate before the first tour coaches dock around 10:00.
The keep, unhurried
Shoes off, socks on wood. The six-storey climb narrows as it rises — defensive design, not crowd control — and the top floor shrine window frames the whole plain. 90–120 minutes with the western bailey (Princess Sen's corridor). It is everything the concrete one promised.
Kokoen garden + lunch
